Discover the best of Huaraz on this 3-day tour. Visit the Huascarán National Park, the ancient city of Yungay, the Laguna de Querococha, the Chavín de Huántar archaeological site, and the Pastoruri Glacier.
Day 1:
Arrive in the morning and be greeted at the bus terminal. Be transferred to your hotel and start your first day of the tour. Enter the Huascarán National Park and see the highest mountain in Peru, the Huascarán, at 6768 meters above sea level.
Visit the ancient city of Yungay, which was buried by an earthquake and avalanche in 1970. Explore the Campo Santo, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Head north to Huaraz and stop in Carhuaz to try some traditional ice cream and take photos of the main square. Continue to Yungay to visit the city that was buried in the 1970s. Ascend to the Chinancocha Lagoon in Llanganuco and take a boat ride.
Descend and head to Caraz to visit and buy some local delicacies. On the way back to Huaraz, visit the artisan village of Taricá.
Day 2:
Depart at 8:00 AM and head south of Huaraz, passing through the city of Recuay and Catac. Take a detour to the Callejón de los Conchucos. Stop at the Querococha Lagoon (4200 m) to see the contrasting Andean landscapes.
Continue to the Cahuish Tunnel and the Conchucos Valley. After a 2.5-hour drive, visit the magnificent Chavín Archaeological Center, one of the most beautiful and ancient monuments in the Peruvian Andes.
Have lunch at a local restaurant and visit the Chavín National Museum. Return to Huaraz for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3:
Head south of Huaraz to Carpa and visit the Patococha Lagoon, known for its wild ducks and natural gasified waters. Continue to the Pumapa Shimi Lagoon, the Puyas Raymondi forest, and the Pastoruri Glacier.
Take photos of the glacier and explore its frozen lagoon and icy walls. Return to Huaraz.
