This is an overnight tour in Rotorua including Hobbiton, Waitomo Caves, Cultural Evening and 3-4 star accommodation in Rotorua.
Day 1 - Auckland, Hobbiton and Rotorua
Hotel pickups begin from 6.25am. Start your day traveling from Auckland to Hobbiton through the Waikato region, where you will pass through dairy farms and the Hauraki Plains. On arrival at Hobbiton you will be guided through the picturesque 1,250-acre sheep farm with spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges. You will be escorted through the site while listening to fascinating details of how the Hobbiton Movie set was created. The Hobbit holes, Green Dragon Inn, the Mill and other structures were created for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films. They can be viewed and you will see how this beautiful piece of Waikato farmland was transformed into The Shire from Middle-Earth, with the finale being a complimentary drink at the Green Dragon Inn.
After Hobbiton, we will go to Rotorua. In Rotorua, we go to Te Puia where you have a buffet lunch followed by time to explore Te Puia on a 90-minute guided tour to see the Pohutu Geyser, Kiwi Bird House
Te Puia is rich in Thermal activity, Maori Art and Crafts Institute. Te Puia also
Evening Concert and Hangi (traditional meal - Mitai Tours will collect you from your accommodation) and take you back again after your evening meal and entertainment.
Day 2 – Rotorua, Waitomo Caves to Auckland
Breakfast is included with your accommodation.
Free morning for a possible extra activity (not included) and Waitomo Caves in the afternoon.
Pick up from Rotorua accommodation will be at 12pm. Make sure to have some food as lunch is NOT included on this date and there will be no food stops on the way to Waitomo Caves.
You will travel to Waitomo Caves, famous for its thousands of glow-worms. Walk into the caves, then travel a short distance on the underground river in a small boat, passing beneath a veil of glittering glow-worms and learning more about the caves' historical and geological significance.
After this tour, you will be taken back to Auckland where your tour ends.
