Orkney Private Tours with a local who’s (probably) seen it all. I was born and raised here, so I don’t just know the guidebook highlights, I know the shortcuts, the hidden corners, the weather tricks, and even which sheep are most likely to block the road. From Neolithic villages older than the pyramids to Cold War relics, standing stones, and dramatic coastal views, there isn’t much in Orkney I haven’t seen, stepped on, or occasionally tripped over.
This is a fully private, fully customisable tour designed around what you want to see. Forget cookie-cutter itineraries and rushed group stops. Instead, expect a relaxed pace, plenty of storytelling and local insight along the way, and time to enjoy each site without feeling herded back onto a bus. Whether you’re here for a single day, hopping off a cruise ship, or spending longer on the islands, I’ll tailor the day to fit your schedule.
Transport is in a comfortable midsize SUV or 4x4 estate (up to 4 adults, or 3 if you’d like to spread out). These vehicles are far more flexible than the big minibuses, letting us reach places the crowds can’t. Tickets for attractions like Skara Brae aren’t included in the price, but I’m happy to arrange them at cost on the day, or you can pre-book to avoid queues in peak season.
And don’t worry if I’m already booked. I work with a small team of trusted local guides who share the same passion, knowledge, and sense of humour. So even if I’m unavailable, you’re still in very good hands.
Quick heads-up: I’ve had the odd issue receiving messages through this platform. If you don’t hear back within 24 hours, just search Historic Orkney online you’ll find me, more info, and other tour options there.
