Begin your journey at Himeji Castle, Japan’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known as the “White Heron Castle” for its elegant white exterior, it is widely regarded as the finest surviving example of early 17th-century Japanese castle architecture. As you explore the main keep and defensive compounds, your guide will explain the sophisticated design strategies that made the castle both beautiful and nearly impregnable.

After visiting the castle, continue to Koko-en Garden, a beautifully designed landscape inspired by samurai residences. Here, peaceful ponds, seasonal scenery, and traditional aesthetics offer a glimpse into the refined culture of the Edo-period castle town.

The tour then continues through the historic streets surrounding the castle. Walking through the former castle town, you will learn how merchants, artisans, and samurai once lived and worked, and how these traditions shaped the identity of Himeji today.
