Mount Longonot Hiking
Mount Longonot Hiking is a stratovolcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, Africa. It is thought to have last erupted in the 1860’s, then its name derived from the Maasai word Oloonong’ot meaning the ‘’mountains of many spurs’’ or ‘’steep ridges’’. Mount Longonot is protected by the Kenya Wildlife Service as part of the Longonot National Park. Mount Longonot is located about 90km from Nairobi. The hiking safari trail starts off from Longonot park gate to the top of the crater and around the crater rim. The crater rim provides great scenic views across the beautiful Rift Valley all the way to Lake Naivasha.
