Walk through the heart of the Bibémus Quarry and the Roques-Hautes Departmental Park, following in the footsteps of painter Paul Cézanne between Aix-en-Provence and Le Tholonet, with landscape reading along the way.
Come walk the very paths the painter once took through the garrigue, seeking inspiration to capture the Provençal landscape on canvas. Striking contrasts await: ochre-red earth, deep green pinewoods, and an azure blue sky.
Feel the “geological power” of Mont Sainte-Victoire and its “rocky energy,” as Cézanne himself described it. We will also visit the painter’s small stone hut nestled in the heart of the Bibémus Quarries.
The walk includes guided landscape readings to better understand the Mediterranean ecosystem and to learn more about the formation of Sainte-Victoire, the emblematic limestone mountain range of Provence. We will finish with an artwork analysis, supported by reproductions of the master’s paintings.
