What you can expect

  • Experience Heidelberg: We combine culture, history and panorama

Heidelberg is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany and captivates visitors from all over the world. Its unique location in the Neckar Valley, its historic old town and the majestic castle ruins form a backdrop that inspired the poets of the Romantic period.

On to the summit: The Königstuhl

We start the day with a comfortable ride in a van up to the Königstuhl. Once you reach an altitude of 568 meters, you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city. When the weather is good, Heidelberg's local mountain offers breathtaking views of the Neckar Valley, the Rhine Plain and sometimes even as far as the Vosges Mountains.

Down to the castle by cable car

The Heidelberg funicular is an attraction in itself. The upper, nostalgic funicular takes us on a slow, steep ride to Molkenkur. From there, take the lower funicular, one of the most modern funiculars in Germany, to continue on to the castle in just a few minutes. Heidelberg Castle, the epitome of German Romanticism, towers majestically above the city. A walking tour through the castle's inner courtyard and garden reveals the eventful history of the former residence of the Electors Palatine.

World records and the history of pharmacy in the castle grounds

Two special highlights await within the castle walls: In the Royal Hall building, there is access to the cellar, which houses the legendary Great Barrel. This world's largest fillable wine barrel was made in the 18th century from 130 oak trunks and can hold over 219,000 liters of wine. Right afterwards, the German Pharmacy Museum invites you on a journey through time. The exhibits offer fascinating insights into the history of medicine from antiquity to the 21st century.

    Through the Baroque Old Town

Now, join us on a guided stroll through the historic old town. As you stroll through the cobblestone streets, you can feel the lively atmosphere of this traditional university city. The route takes you past Baroque townhouses, cozy cafés and buildings steeped in history. Highlights: Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holy Spirit), Old Bridge, Jesuit Church and more…
