What you can expect

  • Visit 3 mostly premium wineries and explore parts of this famous wine growing region of Hawke’s Bay and Napier.

Following your accommodation pick-up, you may visit the Mission Estate Winery, New Zealand's oldest winery. Here you will learn the history of the wine estate dating back to 1836, before sampling their fantastic wines. Continue to a 2nd and 3rd winery, boutique and delicious wines are the terms most heard. At these wineries you will taste mostly premium wines, and wines that are cellar door sales only.

New Zealand is renowned for its South Island wines, this tour allows you to compare the effects that the different climates have on the end result, including a fantastic “terroir” comparison for your consideration.

Time permitting, drive to Gimblett Gravels, which combine the French concept of “terroir” with modern day thinking to define, protect, and market wine. The Gimblett Gravels area is treated similarly to an appellation, covers around 800 hectares, and is strictly determined by the gravelly base deposited by the old Ngaruroro River route. You will discover why this area has been recognised as “one of the top 12 wine growing regions in the world” yes, in the world…. yes, you will taste some of those wines.

Continue to a secluded brewery set in orchards or when closed, head to a local ale house for 4 glassfuls of anything from the range available. That includes, beers and ciders.
Finally take the coast road back to Napier for your hotel drop off.
