What you can expect
Explore Historical Hilo to Volcano through a local perspective by Native Hawaiian guides. Visit the most sought out locations with the extras! Volcano National Park, black sand beaches with sea turtles, waterfalls, botanical gardens, lava tubes, and many local hidden gems.
Start your day with a pick-up from your hotel, the airport, cruise ship or general common area. Travel in a luxury minibus to the Volcano's National Park as we share info of the surrounding environment and agriculture lands on passing.
Continue through the Volcano's National Park, where we make various stops to see the lava tubes, Craters, steam/gas vents and learn about the history of the park.
Heading back to Hilo we make a stop at Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut farm to taste locally grown Macadamia Nuts and explore the production and manufacturing facilities before they are shipped around the world!
Passing through Hilo and many land monuments we see the beautiful Hilo Bay just before entering the Historical Hilo Downtown where we will be having lunch for an hour. Many restaurants and shops are pointed out before the drop-off and pickup location which is the famous Hilo farmers market.
After lunch we make our way further up Hilo to Rainbow Falls known for a visable rainbow found just below the falls that is created when the sun hits the mist in the air! Here you can also find many local plants and trees nearby including a very sought out 600yr old Banyan tree that is 2/3 of an acre in size that locals and tourists love to explore, climb and swing from.
We then make our way further up to a few local hidden gems in the upper Hilo area before making our way back down to a very popular botanical garden located next to the Hilo Bay called Liliuokalani Park and Gardens. Here you will find a 24 acre tropical landscape of many island tree's and plants surrounding salt water tide pools with walking bridges to enjoy.
Close by we make a short drive over to an exclusive Macadamia short bread cookie factory and production facility called Big Island Candies where we taste there famous cookies dipped in various chocolates and also free samples of kona or Kau coffee.
Explore the facility where all their candies are lively being made, packaged and shipped.
Lastly the tour finishes at our last stop at a rare black/green/white sand beach in Keaukaha Hilo called Richardson Ocean Park where we explore the natural made reefs created by ancient lava flows where Hawaiian green sea turtles (Honu) swim and bask in various tide pools and reefs. Many local fishes can also be seen in salt water streams coming into the black sand shore where seasoned turtles come up to lay their eggs in the sand.
We finish our tour with drop-offs to your hotel, the airport, cruise ship or general common area. Be mindful that through the 6-7hr tour, ice cold water are provided, including umbrellas permitting weather. Book soon and see you at our next tour! Aloha and Mahalo Nui!
