Located in Largo de São Sebastião, in front of the iconic Amazon Theatre in Manaus, this neoclassical monument was inaugurated in 1900 to commemorate the 1866 opening of Amazonian ports to international trade. Designed by Italian artist Domenico de Angelis, it features allegorical sculptures representing the four continents—Asia, Africa, Europe, and America—each symbolized by a ship with a seated child.
