Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Guilin or Yangshuo. Travel to the Longji Rice Terraces Scenic Area and visit Huangluo Yao Village. Enjoy a lunch of local ethnic minority cuisine.
Next, head to Ping'an Zhuang Village. Explore the village on foot, visiting a local family's home, and chat with the villagers to learn about the Zhuang people's way of life. Under their guidance, learn how to make oil tea, their traditional food, and taste the oil tea you made yourself. Spend the night at a hotel in Ping'an Village.
On the second day, walk through the rice terraces behind Ping'an Village, continuing to another ancient Zhuang village to explore more terraces. Visit the village's ancient well, stone bridge, stone gate, and wooden houses built over 150 years ago that are still inhabited.
Learn about the unique structure and function of the “one pillar controlling four doors” ancient dwellings of northern Guangxi, dating back hundreds of years, as well as the ancient custom of polygamy and how they lived harmoniously together.
If the day happens to be an open day at the museum, you can also visit the Zhuang Ethnic Museum, built and managed by the Guangxi Provincial Government, to see the development history of the Zhuang people in northern Guangxi since ancient times, their unique daily necessities, production tools, clothing culture, customs, and models of the distinctive “stilt house” wooden architecture in rural northern Guangxi. Have lunch in the village, and return to your hotel in Guilin or Yangshuo in the afternoon.
