What you can expect
SIGHTSEEING TOUR IN SPANISH.
We want you to get to know the wonderful Cathedral of Pamplona, which is the largest cathedral complex currently preserved in Spain, with more than 80,000 square meters.
We will meet in front of the façade, which, being neoclassical, often surprises visitors. It's not normal to find a neoclassical façade on the Camino de Santiago, but we'll explain why. In addition, although the façade is Neoclassical and the writer Victor Hugo hated it, the interior is Gothic, and the same writer was fascinated by what he found inside!
Weather permitting, we will climb the Cathedral tower, from where we will enjoy fantastic panoramic views of Pamplona. What's more, on a clear day, you can see the Pyrenees in France!! And not only that, but we'll be next to the Campana María, the largest bell in use in Spain.
We'll continue our visit through the central nave. We don't want to overwhelm you with the names of saints, so don't worry. We'll tell you about them if you want, but we'll focus mainly on the interesting facts that make this beautiful monument special: the tomb of Carlos III and Leonor, where the first stone was laid, …. and a few more surprises.
And finally, we'll arrive at the cloister, considered one of the best early 13th-century Gothic cloisters in Europe. Its portals, its refectory, one of the few remaining medieval kitchens in Europe, and many more things that we want to share with you on this visit.
