Dive into a 6 to 8 hour private exploration of Guadalajara and Tlaquepaque to discover stunning architecture, traditional food, and colorful art.
Unlike standard group experiences, this personalized journey lets you explore at your own pace, with the flexibility to focus on what interests you most. Throughout the day, you’ll be accompanied by a private driver and a local expert, Diego, a Guadalajara native and licensed guide with a lifelong connection to both areas.
After picking you up at your accommodation, we will begin our journey with an in-depth exploration of Guadalajara’s historic city center, visiting iconic landmarks such as the Cathedral, Teatro Degollado, Palacio de Gobierno, and the city’s main squares and plazas.
Along the way, your guide will point out how different architectural styles reflect key periods in Guadalajara’s evolution, offering a deeper understanding of its cultural heritage, from its indigenous roots to its colonial past and modern-day identity.
We will also visit the city’s largest market and ultimate culinary paradise, Mercado Libertad, also known as San Juan de Dios, as well as its most important museum, Hospicio Cabañas (closed on Mondays). This UNESCO-listed site houses 57 murals by José Clemente Orozco, one of Mexico’s three greatest muralists.
After a 20-minute drive, the experience continues in Tlaquepaque, a beautifully preserved town renowned for its artistic heritage. Stroll along its charming main street as you explore an exceptional selection of art shops, galleries, and museums showcasing a wide range of colorful handicrafts made by Mexico's best artesanos, including ceramic pottery, blown glass, paintings, rustic furniture, textiles, sculptures, and more. All of this is set against a backdrop of elegant architecture dating back to the 19th century and earlier, with highlights such as two picturesque churches and a peaceful central plaza.
As you walk and explore, your guide will share engaging insights into the town’s history and present-day culture. You will also receive personalized recommendations for restaurants and local food stands, offering the opportunity to sample authentic culinary specialties.
As this is a fully private experience, the itinerary remains flexible. At any point, you can pause to enjoy lunch, ice cream, coffee, craft beer, tequila and mezcal cocktails, or a quick bite at a local market or street stand. Come with an appetite and make the most of the region’s vibrant food scene!
