As your guide discusses what to expect on the tour, strap into your ice cleats and grab a pair of adjustable hiking poles. Set off along a frozen stream bed, stomping your feet along the way to get suitable traction. Relish nature’s spectacular scenery of frozen waterfalls draped down mountainsides and maybe even spot an ice climber.

Inside the canyon, find 600–800-year-old hieroglyphs created by the Hopi tribe that once inhabited this land. Learn about the area’s unique history and uncover the stunted pine forest and ancient ocean floors. After the 2.6-mile (4.2-km) hike, warm up with a delicious cup of hot chocolate and a maple cookie snack.
