Step into the world of Ireland’s lakes, rivers, and ocean at Galway Atlantaquaria, where your group will be welcomed by the friendly front-of-house team and provided with a detailed map to start your adventure. Begin your visit with the signature Huge Splash event—a lively introduction that sets the scene for the wonders ahead. As you explore the Aquarium’s two floors, you’ll encounter a diverse range of native marine species, from shimmering river fish to fascinating ocean dwellers, all brought to life by passionate guides who share stories of Ireland’s deep connection to the sea.

Wander through authentic exhibits that highlight over 25 years of marine education and conservation, including the impressive ‘one ocean’ biozone, where you’ll see not only local species but also piranha, tetras, and cichlids from the Amazon and Africa. Marvel at the Galway Hooker, a traditional wooden boat that once ferried goods and livestock to the Aran Islands, and stand in awe beneath the enormous Fin Whale skeleton—a favourite with visitors of all ages.

Join a guided tour or feeding experience (check with reception for times) to get up close with Ireland’s unique marine life, learning about the habitats, behaviours, and cultural significance of each species. The guides will share insights into the Aquarium’s conservation efforts and the vital role the ocean plays in Irish heritage. After the tour, you’re free to revisit your favourite exhibits or explore at your own pace, with plenty of opportunities for hands-on discovery and memorable moments.

Your visit concludes at the Aquarium, leaving you perfectly placed to continue exploring Galway’s scenic waterfront or nearby attractions at your leisure.
