The image of the Black Madonna of Częstochwa, also known as Our Lady of Częstochowa, to which miraculous powers are attributed, is one of Jasna Góra's most precious treasures. It is one of the most important places of Marian devotion and the most important Catholic pilgrimage center in Poland withits miraculous image of Our Lady of Częstochowa.

The site is also one of Poland's official national historic monuments. Every year since the Middle Age, thousands of Poles go in pilgrim groups to visit Jasna Góra. In 2012, it was estimated that 103,000 pilgrims went to the shrine.
