What you can expect
Your private tour begins with a convenient pick-up from your Lisbon hotel. The day is designed to showcase the stunning national monuments of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as nearby highlights like Cascais. As a private tour, the itinerary is fully flexible, allowing you to customize the schedule to suit your interests.
Your driver/guide will consult with you to determine which palaces you'd like to prioritize. If you’re particularly interested in visiting the iconic Pena Palace or the Regaleira, we recommend contacting us in advance to organize your schedule, as these sites have timed entrances.
Depending on the chosen itinerary, your first stop could be one of Sintra’s many palaces or the village center, where you can enjoy traditional Portuguese pastries at a local tea house. If you prefer, you may also visit the 14th-century Village Palace, a historic royal residence that has evolved over time into one of Sintra’s most iconic landmarks.
After lunch, the tour continues towards Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, passing notable sites along the way, such as the elegant 18th-century Seteais Palace and the breathtaking Monserrate Palace and Park. At Cabo da Roca, take some time to enjoy the dramatic coastal scenery before heading to Guincho Beach. From there, visit the Hell’s Mouth, a striking natural cluster of caves and sea tunnels, and continue to the picturesque Royal Village of Cascais.
The journey back to Lisbon follows a scenic coastal route, concluding with an approach through the historic Belém neighborhood.
A full-day tour offers plenty of opportunities to explore Sintra, but it’s not possible to see all the palaces and landmarks in a single day. Since this is a private tour, the schedule can be tailored to focus exclusively on Sintra or incorporate surrounding attractions. Let your guide know your preferences so they can create the best experience for you.
For a half-day tour, the experience is more compact and focuses on sightseeing. You'll still visit the Sintra village center, Cabo da Roca, and Cascais, but with shorter stops or drive-bys instead of extended visits to each location.
