What you can expect
Day 1 – Sushi, Lantern Art, City Walk & Yatai Dining
Begin at Sushi Sanyo (Heisuke Fukkodo Bldg. 3F) with a 2-hour sushi-making experience including lunch. Learn about sushi culture and Northern Kyushu seafood, watch a chef’s demonstration, then prepare rice, slice fish, and shape nigiri yourself before tasting your creations.
Next, head to Kadota Chochin Shop in Kawabata Street Shopping District for a 1–1.5 hour lantern painting workshop. Design your own white paper lantern under artisan guidance and take it home boxed. If the shop is closed, the program will be replaced with a Hakata Doll painting experience at Hakata Doll Hall Shogetsudo.
In the afternoon, meet your guide at Ohori Park Station for a 3-hour walking tour (3.5 km). Visit Ohori Park and Fukuoka Castle Ruins, then relax at a long-established local café such as Noda Coffee.
In the evening, enjoy Fukuoka ’s famous yatai stalls with a 60-minute tasting set (gyoza, chef’s selection, tonkotsu ramen, and one drink). Tour ends on site; feel free to continue yatai-hopping.
Day 2 – Hakata Walk, Home Cooking & Noh Theater
Meet your guide at Fukuoka City Tourist Information Center (Hakata Station) for a 2-hour morning walk (2.5 km). Visit Shofukuji Temple, Tochoji Temple, Mochikichi, and Kushida Shrine. The tour concludes at Kushidajinja-mae Station; please travel independently to Befu Station.
Join a 3-hour home cooking class with a local host mother. Prepare and enjoy a standard washoku menu including rice, miso soup, teriyaki chicken, dashimaki tamago, and tempura, served with green tea, sweets, and fruit.
Finally, experience authentic Noh theater at Morimoto Noh Stage (60 mins) with interpretation. Learn about its 650-year history and observe refined movements before concluding at Hakata Station.
