At 9:00 AM, we will pick you up from the lobby of your hotel in the Veracruz-Boca del Rio conurbation to head to the archaeological site of Quiahuiztlan, “the place where the rain rises to the heights.” On the Cerro de los Metates, we will find vestiges of the most beautiful pre-Hispanic Totonac cemetery in the world. There are also remains of pyramids and a ball court from which you can enjoy a splendid panoramic view of the beaches of Villa Rica on the Gulf of Mexico.
After the visit, we'll arrive in Cempoala, the Place of 20 Waters, which gets its name from being surrounded by the region's rivers.
In addition to being one of the important archaeological sites of the state and of the Totonac culture, we'll see the main buildings, such as
the Temple of the Chimneys, the Circle of the Gladiators, and other pyramid bases.
Then we'll continue in the direction of La Antigua, a small town framed by huge, leafy trees on the banks
of the Huitzilapan River, also known as the River of the Hummingbirds. There, we can find the legacies of the Spanish conquest, such as the Casa del Cabildo and the Ermita
del Rosario, the first Catholic Church in Mexico. Return to your hotel at the agreed time.
