What you can expect

Depart from Vancouver and travel along the Fraser River Valley to Mission City's Yingqu Creek Fish Farm. Learn about salmon and sturgeon farming practices. Then, drive to Widow Creek to witness the natural migration of salmon.

Widow Creek is a government-designated salmon breeding ground, featuring a 3-kilometer-long artificial shallow creek for spawning and reproducing. Salmon reproduce in a highly organized pattern, spawning at the river's headwaters. As they mature, they migrate down the creek and eventually into the ocean. After four years, the salmon swim upstream to their birthplace to spawn, only to die shortly thereafter.

Due to the turbulent currents, the salmon cannot eat during this migration, relying on their body fat and protein to sustain them. This color gradually turns red during the spawning season, unlike the silvery white they display at sea. Every autumn, when the salmon return, a spectacular red creek forms in their wake.

In the afternoon, visit Harrison Hot Springs and explore the picturesque town. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant or bring your own meal and enjoy it by the shores of beautiful Harrison Lake. Finally, visit the historic town of Fort Crane, where British Columbia, Canada, was founded. It was once a center of settlement for many Indigenous peoples and a trading route for the British Empire. Salmon and cranberries were also popular there. After the tour, you'll be transferred back to Vancouver, concluding your enjoyable trip.
