Economic activity in this region is based largely on oasian agriculture, especially date production as well as ecological and sahaNC tourism. The Ras El Ain palm grove, also known as Nefta Basket, is a unique historic site, located in a large 1km diameter green bowl, surrounded by the city’s urban buildings. Today, to revive the somewhat abandoned Nafta Basket, the NGO club Unesco de Nefta, accompanied by many oasian actors, has taken the initiative to carry out activities for the development and restoration of this historic site.
