What you can expect

  • Discover the city of Vlora on a private tour from Tirana. Visit the Museum of Independence, the Old Town Muradije, and the Lungo Mare promenade. Explore the Llogara National Park and hike through the Cesar Pass.

Start your tour with a visit to the Museum of Independence, located in the building that housed the first Albanian government. See original objects from the time that reflect important documents from the period of the Renaissance and Independence. Visit the office of the Albanian Prime Minister at that time, Ismail Qemali, and the meeting hall of the first Albanian government.

Next, visit the Old Town Muradije and the Lungo Mare promenade. Then, head to the Llogara National Park, a perfect meeting point between the mountain and the sea. On the way, encounter the famous Flag Pine, a 100-year-old pine tree shaped by strong winds to resemble a fluttering flag.

Llogara is the most beautiful part of the entire park, where the expanse of pines opens up, revealing the horizon of the Ionian Sea. Llogara is a perfect place to visit during the winter, full of snow, trees, and relaxing local restaurants.

The drive itself is a treat with breathtaking views. Make a stop at Panorama Llogara, a viewing platform where you can take in the amazing views over the beaches of Palasa, Drimades, and Dhermi. Hike through the Cesar Pass and learn about the history of the area. The Pass of Caesar (Qafa e Qesarit) derives its name from an event in 48 BC, when Gaius Julius Caesar landed with his troops in Palasë during the battle against Pompey and is said to have travelled north from there towards Vlorë. In fact, the exact location of his landing is disputed among historians, as is the question of whether Caesar actually crossed the pass named after him, but the view from there towards Vlorë is still “imperial” today.
