What you can expect
Day 1: Bromo Volcano
The adventure begins at Mount Bromo, located in East Java. An early morning start is crucial to catch the spectacular sunrise from the viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan. Most trekkers start the day as early as 3:00 AM to witness the iconic sight of the sun rising over the Tengger caldera, illuminating the surrounding peaks, including Mount Semeru in the distance.
After soaking in the sunrise, the descent into the “Sea of Sand,” a vast plain of volcanic ash, begins. A short hike across this desolate landscape leads to the foot of Mount Bromo. From here, you ascend the 250 steps leading to the crater’s edge. The sight of the steaming crater and the smell of sulfur remind you of the volcano’s active state, adding to the thrill of the experience.
Once you’ve explored Mount Bromo, it’s time to leave this lunar-like landscape behind and begin the drive or transfer towards the next destination, Mount Ijen. Depending on the pace of the trek, many adventurers take a break in a local village or guesthouse along the way, immersing themselves in the rural Javanese culture, sampling local food, and resting for the next day’s challenge.
Day 2: Tumpak Sewu Waterfall
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, often called the “Thousand Waterfalls,” is a stunning natural wonder located in Lumajang, East Java, Indonesia. This multi-tiered waterfall cascades dramatically over 120 meters (394 feet) into a horseshoe-shaped canyon, creating a mesmerizing display of countless streams flowing down a lush, green cliffside. The name “Tumpak Sewu” translates to “a thousand waterfalls,” referring to the many water streams that fall like delicate curtains from the high cliffs, giving the site its unique and breathtaking appearance.
Set against the backdrop of Semeru, Java’s highest volcano, the waterfall is framed by rich, tropical vegetation and rugged landscapes. Tumpak Sewu is not only a visual spectacle but also a testament to Indonesia's raw natural beauty, often compared to some of the world's most famous waterfalls.
To fully experience the majesty of Tumpak Sewu, visitors can trek down into the canyon for an up-close encounter with the powerful falls, feeling the cool mist and hearing the roar of the water. The journey to the base involves navigating through bamboo ladders and rocky paths, adding an adventurous edge to this already extraordinary destination.
This hidden gem, relatively undiscovered by mass tourism, is a must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers.
After everything has been explored, you will return to the jeep, And dropp off to ketapang harbour
