Full Description
Enjoy a deeply authentic experience in the mountainous heart of Santiago Island. After being picked up at your hotel, at dawn you'll head towards one of the greenest and quietest areas of the island, where agricultural landscapes mingle with rock formations and fertile valleys.
The trail starts in a small rural community and follows paths used daily by locals. For about 3.5 to 4 hours, you'll walk through areas shaded by mango, papaya, and other tropical trees, while observing endemic plants and animals that inhabit the slopes—including monkeys and wild chickens.
Along the way, the guide shares stories about traditions, family farming, customs, and the simple ways of living in the mountains. At a certain point, you'll have the chance to stop to relax, enjoy nature, connect with locals, and eat.
After the break, continue your walk down a scenic trail with views of agricultural valleys and small villages. At the end, transportation will be waiting for you to comfortably return to the hotel.
This experience was created to offer genuine contact, rich nature, and a positive impact—a way for tourism to directly help those who live in the region.
