You are guaranteed to see lots of native animals on this small group wildlife tour. Journey from Perth through Western Australia’s wheatbelt region to the Dryandra Woodlands, a unique conservation reserve which is part of an international biodiversity hotspot. Leave Perth and head southeast through native forest before coming to the wheatbelt region.

See golden fields of wheat ripple like a calm ocean and fields of bright yellow canola flowers stretching endlessly to the horizon, gently waving in the breeze. Be on the lookout for emus and kangaroos enjoying the wide open space of the farmer’s fields.

Upon arrival at the woodlands, take a short bush walk, looking for native animals and stunning wildflowers in season before sitting down for a picnic dinner in the forest. Your guide will cook some food on the barbeque, there will be fresh salads, cheese and biscuits, wine and cold drinks available.

After dinner, enjoy a scenic drive through the forest as the sunlight filters through the branches of the trees, casting long shadows and a flickering light creating a magical effect on the forest floor. Keep an eye out for the many kangaroos in the area as they dodge and weave their way through the trees.

Your final stop is Barna Mia, a unique wildlife sanctuary for some of Australia’s endangered mammals. The guides will provide a short talk and video explaining the conservation work done at Barna Mia. Then head into the sanctuary for a guided night walk where you sit and wait for the night creatures of Barna Mia to appear. Before long, you will be entertained by cute, furry animals scurrying around searching for food.

To complete the tour, we do a brief stop near a farmers field to have a look at the stars. The Dryandra outback has some of the darkest skies in Australia. See the milky way in season and you will have time to take some photos of the night sky with your camera or phone. Keep an eye out for satellites and make a wish on a shooting star.
