The journey takes you through the scenic Troodos mountains, known for their lush forests and fresh air. At the mountain’s base lies Omodos village, a charming spot with cobbled streets and vineyards. Here, we’ll visit the Timios Stavros Monastery, famous for holding a piece of the Holy Cross and the Holy Rope.
Next, we drive through the quaint villages of Pedoulas and Prodromos to reach Kykkos Monastery, one of Cyprus’s wealthiest monasteries founded in the 11th century. It houses the revered icon of the Virgin Mary, said to be painted by St. Luke. The monastery’s terrace offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
Close by is the Tomb of Archbishop Makarios on Mount Throni, overlooking Kykkos. This site is the final resting place of Cyprus’s first president and a significant place of pilgrimage, set amid stunning mountain scenery.
The tour ends at Lambouri winery, where you can sample excellent wines, including famous Commandaria and the traditional Zivania spirit.
