    Ludwig II of Bavaria commissioned the palace as a royal retreat and in honor of Richard Wagner, the composer. After Ludwig II's death, the palace was opened to the public in 1886 and now welcomes more than 1.3 million visitors a year. Neuschwanstein has been filmed several times and also served as the model for Sleeping Beauty's Castle at Disneyland.

    You'll hike through a beautiful gorge with cascades and waterfalls. On the way back, you'll stop at the Wieskirche, a church from the 17th century. century, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

    You'll also have the opportunity to visit a Bavarian cheese farm, where you can optionally buy a cheese and sausage platter with fresh baked bread. Enjoy the spectacular 360-degree view of the mountains from the farm.
