What you can expect

We begin the tour when our guide picks you up at the lobby of your hotel. We will move to Maní, one of the oldest towns; its name in the Mayan language means “Place where everything happened.” Walking through its streets is like meeting a living community that murmurs in its native language and proudly wears those colors and designs that give it identity. This is the beginning of our encounter with our Mayan ancestors.

Upon arrival, we will take a tour of the convent of San Miguel Arcángel, which is located in the historic center of Maní. In 1549, the construction of the convent of San Miguel Arcángel in Maní began. In just a few years, its main architectural spaces were built, already visible towards the end of the 1580s; in addition, some modifications were made during the 17th and 18th centuries, we can see the passage of time in every corner.

Then we will have our first immersion in the Mayan language with an initial class to learn how to greet, numbers, and some colors, where we will find the magic of knowing a little more about the Mayans.

Afterwards we will go to cook a Yucatecan dish with the ancestral cook Lolbe; where she will show us some of the culinary techniques of Yucatecan gastronomy, we will give time for everything to cook over a low heat, meanwhile we will go to learn a little more about the melipona bees in one of the most important meliponaries of this magical town.

After having a ceremony with the bees we will return with Lolbe to taste what we prepared, and then return to Mérida.
