What you can expect
Enjoy an unforgettable experience at the Salar de Uyuni on a one-day, two-night trip from La Paz. The tour includes round-trip transfers by night bus and a guided visit to the Great Uyuni Salt Flat, as well as stops at iconic attractions such as the Train Cemetery, the town of Colchani, and Incahuasi Island.
Day 1: From La Paz to Uyuni
Arrive at the bus terminal in La Paz city at 8:30 PM for pre-trip check-in. You'll receive all the guidance you need to board the bus without any issues. Departure for Uyuni is scheduled for around 9:00 p.m. on an overnight bus, so you can travel in comfort during the night.Day 2: Exploring the Uyuni Salt Flats
Arrival in Uyuni at around 7:30 AM. You'll have some free time to buy snacks or water before meeting your guide at the designated office. The tour starts at 10:30 AM, heading to the stunning salt flat. The first stop will be the old Train Cemetery, located on the outskirts of Uyuni, where old locomotives rest in the middle of the Altiplano. Afterwards, you'll visit Colchani, a small village where you can buy crafts made from salt and traditional textiles woven from llama and alpaca wool.
Venture into the vast white expanse of the salt flat and discover a unique hotel built entirely from salt blocks, which now serves as a museum and restaurant. After the morning visit, you'll enjoy lunch right on the salt flat. You can also take a bike ride for a moment of relaxation.
Later, you'll climb up to Incahuasi Island, famous for its huge cacti and petrified coral formations. The site management charges approximately $5 USD to climb to the summit along a fully signposted trail (During the rainy season, between January and March, access to the island may not be available. In the event of a change of itinerary, we will inform you well in advance, and if you wish, you can cancel your booking with a guaranteed 100% refund).
At the end of the day, you'll head to a strategic spot to watch the sunset over the salt flat, when the sky and the salt are tinged with spectacular colors. Raise a glass of wine as you take in this unique moment.
The drop-off in Uyuni is scheduled between 7:15 PM and 7:45 PM. You must arrive on your own at the bus office at 8:30 p.m. to board the 9:00 p.m. bus to La Paz.
