You will meet your private guide at Kusadasi Port, and we will begin the tour with a drive to the House of the Virgin Mary.
The House of the Virgin Mary is believed to be the place where Mary spent her last days, possibly arriving in the area together with Saint John. Officially declared a shrine by the Roman Catholic Church in 1986, it has since become an important pilgrimage site. Pope Paul VI visited the shrine in 1967. The visit takes approximately 45 minutes. Afterward, we will drive about 5 minutes to Ephesus.
Next, we explore the ancient city of Ephesus, one of the best-preserved classical cities in the world and an exceptional testimony to the Hellenistic, Roman Imperial, and early Christian periods. Ephesus is also one of the Seven Churches of Revelation, and Apostle Paul is believed to have lived here for nearly two and a half years during his missionary journeys.
The guided walk through Ephesus takes approximately 2 hours along marble-paved streets, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Entering from the upper gate, we will visit highlights such as the Odeon, State Agora, Prytaneion, Domitian Temple, Curetes Street, Hadrian Temple, Celsus Library, Marble Road, Commercial Agora, Great Theater, and the Harbor Road (Arcadian Way).
After Ephesus, we visit the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. From this area, you will also have excellent photo opportunities of the Church of St. John and the Isa Bey Mosque from the best viewpoints.
At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to Kusadasi Port, in time for your cruise departure.
