The Poon Hill trek is a short and popular trekking route located in the Annapurna region of Nepal. It typically takes around 4-5 days to complete and offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan mountains, including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The trek starts and ends in Nayapul or Phedi, passing through picturesque villages like Tikhedhunga and Ghorepani. Poon Hill, the highest point on the trek at 3,210 meters (10,532 feet), is famous for its sunrise views. It's a relatively easy trek, making it suitable for beginners and those with limited time for a Himalayan adventure.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Kathmandu to Pokhara (8 hour) 200km
We will pick you up at your hotel in the morning at 6:30 to the bus station, a Scenic drive through the Prithivi highway from Kathmandu to Pokhara. It takes for 7/8 hours approximately for a tourist bus. You can have leisure time to visit Pokhara lakeside area, overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (Ulleri)
Start your day early in Pokhara and drive to Nayapul (about 1.5 to 2 hours by car).
Begin your trek from Nayapul.
Trek through beautiful villages, terraced fields, and forests.
Reach Tikhedhunga (also known as Ulleri) by late afternoon or early evening.
Overnight stay in a teahouse/lodge in Tikhedhunga.
Day 3: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani and Poon Hill, then back to Pokhara
Start very early in the morning (before sunrise) for the hike to Poon Hill (3,210 meters). This is the highlight of the trek and offers stunning sunrise views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.
After enjoying the sunrise, hike back to Ghorepani for breakfast.
Begin your descent towards Tikhedhunga and drive back to Pokhara overnight stay in lakeside.
Day 4 : Pokhara to Kathmandu
We will drop you to the tourist bus station and drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus, tour end.
