What you can expect

  • Let yourself be swept away by the magic of Oaxaca’s Southern Sierra on a journey where forests, flavors, and mountains become part of an unforgettable experience. From Huatulco Bays, we’ll venture into a cloud forest landscape, a unique ecosystem known for its remarkable biodiversity and rich variety of wild mushrooms.

Upon arriving in San Mateo Río Hondo, we’ll start the day with breakfast at a local restaurant offering spectacular mountain views. You’ll savor traditional regional dishes and, depending on the season, specialties prepared with local ingredients and seasonal mushrooms.

Our next stop will be Panadería San Mateo, where we’ll discover the secrets behind the preparation of the community’s traditional bread. Then, at Chocolatería Ámate, we’ll learn about the artisanal chocolate-making process while enjoying a delicious tasting featuring blackberry and coffee liqueur truffles, chocolate with nuts and dried fruits, and a cup of hot chocolate prepared with either milk or water.

We’ll then continue to San José del Pacífico, a mountain community nestled at more than 8,500 feet above sea level, where the mountains seem to disappear into the clouds. Here, we’ll enjoy lunch at one of the community’s iconic local spots, surrounded by the unique atmosphere of the Sierra.

To finish the journey, we’ll visit one of San José del Pacífico’s best-known viewpoints. Before us, a spectacular panorama of mountains and clouds will unfold—the perfect setting for photos and unforgettable memories. If you’re looking for a little excitement, you can experience the sensation of flying above the clouds on a suspended swing, or simply take a relaxing walk across the illuminated bridge.

More than just discovering the Southern Sierra, come and feel it, taste it, and take a little piece of its mountains home with you.
