After pickup from your hotel in the Heraklion area at approximately 7:30 AM, journey by bus to the Imbros Gorge in the eastern part of the White Mountains of Crete.
Upon arrival, enjoy an easy 3-hour hike through the narrow passages and marvel at the stunning rock formations. The Imbros Gorge is the second most popular gorge for walkers in Crete after the gorge of Samaria. This picturesque gorge is smaller (8km long) than the Samaria but is just as beautiful. Let's escape into the wild nature and discover some of the most breathtaking places in Crete!
Our adventure takes us to the second most popular gorge on the island, the famous Imbros Gorge.
Located in the region of Sfakia, Imbros Gorge is known for its stunning rock formations and
unique landscape. It is easier to walk than the well-known Samaria Gorge but offers the same magical
experience.
Along the way, you will pass through narrow stone passages, steep cliffs, and shady trees
that protect you from the hot sun. The gorge is rich in wild plants and herbs that grow only in Crete.
The path gently goes downhill and takes about two hours to complete, making it perfect for
families with children or those who want a more relaxing hike. During your walk, you will also come
across historical spots, as Imbros Gorge was once an important escape route for the locals during
World War II.
At the end of the hike, you will reach the peaceful village of Komitades. Here, you can relax and
enjoy a delicious Cretan meal or a refreshing drink before returning.
A perfect experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers!
