Our adventure begins in the early hours of the morning when our professional guide picks you up directly from your hotel in Cusco at approximately 3:00 a.m. in our comfortable tourist transportation.
From Cusco, we travel for approximately two hours to the Andean community of Cusipata, where we enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast. During the drive, you'll pass through picturesque Andean villages and agricultural valleys.
We then continue for approximately 2.5 hours to Sibinacocha Lagoon. After leaving the Andean community of Cusipata, we enter the spectacular high-Andean landscape, passing through remote Andean communities, towering mountains, grasslands, crystal-clear streams, and herds of alpacas and llamas before arriving at Sibinacocha Lagoon.
At Sibinacocha Lagoon, we stop to admire one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the Cusco region and enjoy time for photographs.
After the visit, we continue by vehicle for approximately 30 minutes to Puerto Cáliz, the last point accessible by road and the starting point of our hike to the Quelccaya Glacier, the largest tropical glacier in the world.
From Puerto Cáliz, we begin a 50-minute hike to the glacier along a moderate trail with spectacular mountain and glacial views.
Upon reaching the Quelccaya Glacier, you'll have time to explore the area, admire its impressive ice walls, and take photographs. Depending on glacier conditions, you may also have the opportunity to visit the natural ice caves.
After enjoying the glacier, we hike back for approximately 50 minutes to Puerto Cáliz, where our vehicle will be waiting.
We then continue by vehicle to the Andean community of Phinaya, where we enjoy a traditional lunch prepared with fresh local ingredients.
In the afternoon, we return to Cusco along the same scenic route, arriving between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., with drop-off near Plaza de Armas, depending on road and traffic conditions.
