Day 1 : Cusco - Cloud Forest - Pilcopata Lodge
We leave Cusco early in the morning. We will cross beautiful valleys between the Andes mountain range and rural communities. We will make a stop in Paucartambo, a characteristic colonial town and visit the town's museum. On the way we will have lunch in the cloud forest, enjoy panoramic views, observe different species such as the spectacled bear and the cock of the rock, as well as some orchids, bromeliads, etc..
We will continue our tour until we reach our lodge Pilcopata, where we will spend our first night.
Day 2 : Pilcopata - Amazon Manu Lodge
We will start our day with an early breakfast and then we will visit a coca plantation and a wildlife rescue centre. Afterwards we will go to Puerto Atalaya, located on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River at 500 meters above sea level.
Here we will start the descent by boat where we will observe an enormous diversity of species until we arrive at the Amazon Manu Lodge.
There we will enjoy a delicious lunch before hiking to Machuwasi Lake, where we will ride on rafts to observe birds and spend the night at the lodge.
Day 3 : Amazon Manu Lodge - Cusco
Early in the morning, we will board our boat and head to the macaw clay lick, a wall along the river bank where different species of parrots gather to eat clay rich in minerals which helps them to eliminate toxins from the body.
After a delicious breakfast we will pack up and travel by boat back to Puerto Atalaya, where our bus will be waiting for us to return to Cusco. Our lunch will be on the way back, arriving approximately at 18:30 in Cusco.
