What you can expect

Start your day early with pickup from your hotel in Colombo and travel toward the Cultural Triangle. After around 2 hours, enjoy a relaxing breakfast stop in Kurunegala.

Continue the journey with a visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla.

Drive past the Dambulla International Cricket Stadium before visiting the iconic Dambulla Cave Temple and Golden Buddha Statue.

Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka’s most important religious landmarks. The temple complex consists of five ancient caves carved into a massive rock, filled with over 150 Buddha statues, along with statues of kings and Hindu deities.

The walls and ceilings are covered in beautifully preserved murals that date back more than 2,000 years, depicting scenes from the life of Buddha and significant moments in Sri Lankan history. The site was first used as a refuge by King Valagamba in the 1st century BCE before being transformed into a major temple complex over time.

Next, head to the magnificent Sigiriya Lion Rock, where you can climb to the summit and explore the ruins of an ancient royal palace while enjoying breathtaking views.

In the afternoon, experience an authentic village tour with a traditional Sri Lankan lunch, giving you a glimpse into rural life and local culture.

End the day with an exciting jeep safari at an eco park, where you may spot elephants and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

After a full day of exploration, return comfortably to your hotel in Colombo.
