Discover four of the most beautiful jewels of the Alsace Wine Route on a carefully paced small-group day trip in English, shared with a limited number of travelers (maximum 7 people) on board a luxury van with a driver. Designed for lovers of picturesque architecture, history and fine wines, this afternoon takes you through half-timbered streets, to a panoramic vantage point steeped in history, and to a wine tasting at a family-owned estate. The commentary and guidance are provided entirely in English.
The afternoon begins with a short drive to Eguisheim, voted France's Favorite Village and the birthplace of Pope Leo IX. You'll discover its unique concentric streets, surrounded by flower-lined ramparts and half-timbered houses.
A scenic drive along the Alsace Wine Route then takes you to Kaysersberg, a medieval town dominated by the ruins of its castle and the birthplace of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Albert Schweitzer. You will stroll through the historic center, cross the 16th-century fortified bridge and enjoy the views along the Weiss River.
On the way to Riquewihr, a brief stop at the Sigolsheim National Cemetery offers panoramic views of the vineyards of the Kaysersberg Valley – a memorable pause at this hilltop memorial site.
The afternoon ends in Riquewihr, an open-air museum of medieval ramparts and Renaissance façades. You will enjoy a tour of the village followed by a wine tasting at a family-owned estate, where you will discover Alsace's iconic grape varieties – Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris.
The small-group format ensures a more intimate and personalized experience than a tour on a large coach, with more flexibility and attention given to each traveler.
