What you can expect

Experience the beauty of South Wales on this carefully curated waterfall tour, designed to showcase the region’s more secret and impressive natural highlights in a single day.

Travelling in a comfortable electric mini-van, you’ll explore multiple locations with short guided walks at each stop, covering approximately 7km in total.

The routes are well-paced, with any ascents being gentle and along good-quality paths among lovely forests and rivers.

Your journey begins at Aberdulais Falls, where powerful waters once drove one of Europe’s largest water wheels during the Industrial Revolution, the large waterwheel is still there today and the falls themselves are picturesque, a haven for wildlife and native plants and anyone keen to explore. (1km) (Thursday and Friday only due to opening times).

Continue to Melincourt Falls, a tranquil setting in an ancient upland oak woodland, stream, and waterfalls cascade into the gorge below. (1km)

After a relaxing lunch stop at the canal basin cafe, you’ll visit the breathtaking Henrhyd Falls the highest waterfall in the national park (Mon, Tues and Wed enjoy a longer walk along the river in the beautiful valley bottom to the falls). Here, you can walk behind the curtain of water for a truly memorable experience. The falls also featured in 'The Dark Knight Rises' Batman film. (1.5km/3km)

The tour continues over the dramatic Rhigos Mountain Road, offering sweeping views across the surrounding peaks, before a final scenic forest walk to Pen Pych, a hidden gem nestled on the mountainside. (3.5km)

If time allows, you’ll also have the option to visit Rhondda Heritage Park to learn about the rich coal mining history of the Welsh Valleys, perhaps finishing with a traditional cup of tea and cake.

This tour is ideal for nature lovers looking to explore more of Wales without the stress of planning: combining waterfalls, scenic drives, and local insight into one rewarding day.

Your driver guide Andy, is a qualified Mountain Leader, and a Green Badged Tourist Guide, he’s also been chair of Brecon Beacons Tourism and a Brecon Beacons National Park Warden.

Meet your guide at the National Museum Cardiff. We will visit and go on short hikes to each waterfall as you learn about the local area from your guide.
