If you are looking for some interesting cities to travel to in the southeastern part of Korea, aside from Busan or Gyeongju? Then this is it! Departing from Busan, you will visit the five interesting places of Pohang in a day.

[Pohang Homigot]
Our first stop is Pohang Homigot. Pohang, the city of steel and light, is usually well-known for its steel, electric vehicle battery materials industry, home to the headquarters and large production facilities of POSCO, one of the world's largest steelmakers. But a lot of people don't know that Pohang also has a rich cultural heritage.

Homigot, which means “Tiger's Tail”, is the easternmost point of the Korean Peninsula, where you can see the earliest sunrise of Korea. There are two, large hand sculptures in this plaza, called “Sangsaeng’s Hand”. “Sangsaeng”, meaning “Coexistence” or “Harmonies’ in Korean, and by putting the left hand on the land while putting the right one in the ocean, the sculptures are giving the message that all people are living together by helping one another, a true meaning of harmonious living.

[Guryongpo Japanese House Street]
Guryongpo Japanese House Street is where the Japanese who came to Joseon lived after the Joseon-Japan Trade Treaty was signed between Joseon and Japan in 1883.
Recently, this place became K-drama filming location, “When the Camellia Blooms” and attracts many tourists.

[Pohang Jukdo Market]
Pohang Jukdo Market, one of the largest traditional markets in Gyeongsangbuk Province which was formed nearly 50 years ago, is well-known for its fresh seafood stores. Visitors can buy themselves some raw-fish, then bring it to the nearest restaurant for them to cook your meal for you on the spot, only after paying a table setting fee.

[Pohang Hwanho Park Space Walk]
Space Walk in Hwanho Park, Pohang is the largest experiential sculpture in Korea made of iron with a track length of 333m and 717 steps. After going up the iron stairs, you can look down on the beautiful Pohang skylines, while also enjoying the thrill and excitement of standing there.

[Tongdosa Temple – UNESCO World Heritage]
Tongdosa Temple, esteemed for its establishment in 643, is a revered site recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage. Feel the long-standing tradition of temple buildings and Buddhist culture and Buddhis cultral treasures, Daeungjeon Hall, the Gilt-Bronze Vairocana Buddha and Buddihist Museum.

Your journey will be concluded by coming back to two drop-off sites of Busan: Haeundae Station & Seomyeon Station.
