Option 1 – Transfăgărășan & Bâlea Lake: Includes the Transfăgărășan Highway, panoramic stops and free time at Bâlea Lake. Poenari Fortress and Vidraru Lake are NOT included.
Option 2 – Full Experience: Includes the Transfăgărășan Highway, Bâlea Lake, Vidraru Lake and Poenari Fortress.
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive through the Carpathian Mountains, with stops at panoramic viewpoints along the famous winding road.
Visit Bâlea Lake, a spectacular glacial lake at over 2,000 meters (6,500 ft). Enjoy free time to walk around the lake, take photos, browse souvenir stalls or relax at a mountain restaurant or café.
Guests who select the Full Experience will also visit Poenari Fortress, the authentic fortress associated with Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Dracula). Reaching the fortress requires climbing approximately 1,500 steps, but the views are spectacular. Access may occasionally be restricted due to weather, maintenance or official safety measures.
The Full Experience also includes Vidraru Lake, one of Romania's largest artificial lakes, surrounded by forests and impressive mountain scenery.
Along the Transfăgărășan, there is also a chance to see wild brown bears near the roadside or forest. Sightings cannot be guaranteed, and bears will always be observed safely from inside the vehicle without disturbing them.
This is a 100% private experience, exclusively for you and your group. No strangers will join the tour, and you can enjoy each stop at your own pace.
Pickup is available from hotels, apartments, Airbnbs, train stations or other locations in Brașov and nearby areas. Bottled water, onboard Wi-Fi, a traditional Romanian chocolate treat and free child seats upon request are included.
