What you can expect

In this full day tour you have the opportunity to explore several highlights of ancient Greek history and culture in the Peloponnese area. Visit: The Corinth Canal, Mycenae, the theater of Epidaurus and the picturesque city of Nafplion.

One hour drive away from Athens, in the area of Peloponnese you will be able to find the famous Corinth Canal. The Corinth Canal is a canal that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, thus effectively making the former peninsula an island.

The Corinth Canal is our first stop and we spend their
30 min for photos.

After a brief Stop at the Canal we will continue towards Mycenae, one of the most important cities of ancient Greece. You will see the Mycenaean Acropolis, the tomb of Agamemnon and the ruins of the Cyclopean walls that protected this mighty city. In the second millennium BC, Mycenae was one of the major centres of Greek civilization, a military stronghold which dominated much of southern Greece, Crete, the Cyclades and parts of southwest Anatolia. The period of Greek history from about 1600 BC to about 1100 BC is called Mycenaean in reference to Mycenae. According to Homer, the city of Mycenae was founded by Perseus, the son of Danae and Zeus. By Agamemnon’s time the Royal House of Atreus was the most powerful of the Achaeans (Homer’s name for the Greeks).

We stop at Mycenae for 90 min.
Next stop of this historical tour is the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus. This 4th-century-BC theater is one of the best-preserved Classical Greek structures in existence. Built of limestone is without doubt the highlight of Epidaurus area. It's renowned for its amazing acoustics; a coin dropped in the theater's center can be heard from the highest seat. The theater seats up to 14,000 people. Its entrance is flanked by restored Corinthian pilasters and the foundations of the ancient stage are beyond the circle. It's now used for performances of Ancient Greek drama during the annual Hellenic Festival.

  • stop at Epidaurus for 90
    min.

Our last stop is the picturesque city of Nafplion. Which was the first capital of Greece after Independence (between 1833 and 1834) and has been a major port since the Bronze Age.. Nafplion is one of the prettiest cities in Greece located on the Argolic Gulf and makes it a top tourist destination for Greeks and foreigners.
