Day 1: fly to Jinka
Begin with a flight from Addis Ababa to Jinka, the gateway to the Omo Valley. Upon arrival, enjoy a scenic drive to Turmi, stopping along the way to visit the KeyAfer Market, where you’ll witness the vibrant exchange of goods and local customs. After the market, continue your journey to Turmi, a town known for its connection to the Hamer tribe. In the afternoon, visit a Hamer village, where you can observe the traditional lifestyle, clothing, and practices of this fascinating tribe.
Day 2: Turmi
The day begins with a visit to the Kara and Nyangatom tribes, two distinct communities with unique traditions and ways of life. In the Kara village, you’ll see intricate body art, beadwork, and rituals, while the Nyangatom people will share their pastoral lifestyle with you. In the afternoon, head to the bustling Dimeka market, where various tribes come together to trade and socialize. This vibrant marketplace offers an exciting opportunity to interact with the locals.
Day 3: Turmi
Start the day by visiting the Dasanech tribe village, located near the Omo River. Here, you'll experience their fascinating culture, including their customs, elaborate body paint, and traditional dwellings. In the afternoon, drive back to Jinka, where you’ll visit the Ari tribe village, known for its farming practices and vibrant crafts. Day 4:
On your final day, embark on an excursion to the Mursi tribe in Mago National Park. After the Mursi visit, drive back to Jinka, where you'll transfer to the airport for your return flight to Addis Ababa.
