What you can expect

An immersive and interactive 900 m² space all about the world of Belgian fries and their star ingredient: the potato.
Frietmuseum Brussels is a fun, educational, and tasty museum that takes you on a journey through the history, culture, and traditions of this iconic Belgian dish. With over 1,600 collection pieces, old posters, interactive games, films, and testimonials from friturists, you'll not only discover the history of the potato but also the evolution of the fry over time, as well as the secrets of its perfect cooking.
Spread over three floors, the audio-guided tour (available in 11 languages) kicks off in Peru, the birthplace of the potato, before taking you on a world tour through the history of its cultivation in South America and Europe.

Halfway through, head to Frietland, a space all about Belgian fries. Here, traditions, folklore, and crispy anecdotes reveal the art of Belgian fries. The tour wraps up with a taste of real Belgian fries, cooked to perfection. When you hand in your audio guide, you'll get a cone of fries cooked in either typical Belgian beef fat or vegetable oil.
Visitors can capture their visit by snapping a selfie in a friterie, harvesting potatoes on a tractor, or next to XXL specialties.
Whether you're a foodie, history buff, or just a fan of good fries, the Frietmuseum in Brussels is a must-see. It celebrates a symbol of Belgian culture and reminds us that behind every crispy fry there's a fascinating story!
