Freiburg is known for its warm and sunny climate, as the door to the Black Forest, and for its panoramic beauty. Our tour will take you on a journey through medieval Freiburg, over the history of centuries, over wars and several spots that have shaped the present and the future of this city. See the red sandstone Gothic cathedral, Freiburg's Münster, today the cultural centre of the old town and an outstanding example of medieval Gothic. Notice the bizarrely shaped gargoyles, filigree steeple and the colourful farmers market on Münsterplatz. Wonder at the “Zum Roten Bären”, the oldest hotel in Germany. From here enjoy a view of Schlossberg, a hill where the castle of Freiburg was situated. Today a ruin, the castle was demolished in the 18th century, but it retained its importance.
