A fascinating itinerary to discover Reggio Emilia by following the course of the ancient Crostolo stream, now hidden but once the beating heart of the city. We will retrace the urban stretch of its old riverbed, recounting how much it meant for the development of the city's fabric and for the spiritual identity of Reggio Emilia, until we reveal the link with the name of the most important Marian sanctuary: La Ghiara.

Along the way, we will evoke the memory of vanished places such as Guasco Island and the Oratory of the Five Wounds in Santo Stefano, forgotten but fundamental landmarks. We will then enter the former Jewish Ghetto, where the deconsecrated synagogue and the poignant Stumbling Stones are located, silent symbols of stories that deserve to be remembered.

The route will end in the central Piazza C. Battisti, where the Monte di Pietà once stood, the economic and symbolic heart of ancient Reggio. A journey through hidden memories and rediscovered identities, to see the city with new eyes.
