Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa
Arrive in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia's vibrant capital. After airport greetings, check in at your hotel. Explore the National Museum, home of the famous fossil “Lucy.”
Day 2: Addis Ababa to Danakil Depression
to Semera, gateway to the Danakil Depression. Drive to Hamedela through the Afar Region. Visit Ragad, a salt mining area, and continue to Dallol for surreal landscapes. Enjoy a sunset at Lake Assal before overnighting in Hamedela.
Day 3: Hamedela to Lake Assal, Dallol, and Erta Ale
Wake early for a breathtaking sunrise at Lake Assal. Explore the salt flats and Dallol’s geothermal features. Later, hike to Erta Ale, an active volcano, and camp near the summit to see the glowing lava lake.
Day 4: Erta Ale to Mekelle
After sunrise, enjoy breakfast and head to Mekelle. Stop at Lake Giulietti's salt flats if possible. Arrive in Mekelle, check in, and relax.
Day 5: Mekelle to Gheralta
Travel to Gheralta in the Tigray Highlands. Visit rock-hewn churches like Mariam Korkur and Abune Yemata Guh. Spend the night in Hawzen.
Day 6: Hawzen to Axum
Explore Yeha’s ancient temple ruins, then visit Debre Damo Monastery. Return to Axum for the night.
Day 7: Exploring Axum
Discover Axum’s UNESCO sites, including the obelisks and St. Mary of Zion Church. Overnight in Axum.
Day 8: Axum to Simien Mountains
Drive to Simien Mountains National Park. Trek for 3-4 hours, spotting wildlife. Camp overnight at Sankaber.
Day 9: Simien Mountains – Jinbar Waterfall
Trek to Jinbar Waterfall, then return to Gondar via 4x4 for the night.
Day 10: Historical Gondar
Explore Gondar’s castles, then drive to Bahir Dar for an overnight stay.
Day 11: Blue Nile Falls and Lake Tana
Visit the Blue Nile Falls, then take a boat trip on Lake Tana. Return to Bahir Dar for the night.
Day 12: Arba Minch – Dorze Villages
Fly to Arba Minch and visit the Dorze village. Overnight in Arba Minch.
Day 13: Arba Minch - Konso – Turmi
Boat trip on Lake Chamo for wildlife, then head to Turmi, home of the Hamar people.
Day 14: Turmi – Jinka
Drive to the Karo and Nyangatom tribes, then to Jinka. Overnight in Jinka.
Day 15: Jinka – Mago National Park – Addis Ababa
Visit Mago National Park to see the Mursi people. Fly back to Addis Ababa.
Day 16: Addis Ababa to Lalibela
Fly to Lalibela to explore rock-hewn churches. Overnight in Lalibela.
Day 17: Lalibela to Addis Ababa
Attend a morning church service, then fly back to Addis Ababa for final explorations before departure.
