Ivanovo churches are closed between the 1st of December and 31st of March. During this period, you will visit the Roman ruins from Nicopolis Ad Istrum or the Basarbovski Rock Monastery.

Visit Ivanovo Rock-Hewn Churches (UNESCO Heritage Site) o The Rock-Hewn Churches:  The Ivanovo churches date back to the 12th–14th centuries and were primarily carved into the limestone cliffs overlooking the Rusenski Lom River. These churches were used by monks and hermits during the medieval period as places for spiritual retreat and worship.  Notable frescoes include scenes from the life of Christ, icons of saints, and the Last Judgment. o Ivanovo Church (Main Chapel):  The main church in the complex, often referred to as the Church of the Holy Virgin, is carved into the rock and is the most famous structure. The walls are adorned with colorful frescoes, and the interior design reflects the combination of Byzantine-style religious art and Bulgarian architectural traditions.
