What you can expect
Explore one of continental Europe's few productive coffee farms on an approximately 70-minute guided walking tour.
The farm is best reached by car, with parking available near the meeting point. Located a short drive from La Herradura and Nerja, it offers access to one of southern Spain's most unique agricultural projects.
Discover productive coffee plants and up to 30 varieties of tropical and subtropical fruits that thrive in this unique Mediterranean microclimate.
Join us for a guided walk through Herradura Coffee Farm, a working farm on the Costa Tropical of southern Spain. Surrounded by Mediterranean views and mountain scenery, this experience offers an authentic insight into coffee cultivation and tropical fruit farming.
During the tour, Manuel will explain how coffee can be grown in continental Europe and introduce you to a wide range of exotic crops, including mangoes, avocados, cherimoyas, papayas, pitahayas, bananas, lychees, longans, finger limes, yuzu and many others.
Learn about cultivation techniques, irrigation systems, seasonal cycles, harvesting methods and the challenges of producing tropical crops sustainably in a Mediterranean environment.
Our farm follows sustainable farming practices focused on biodiversity, soil health and responsible water management.
You will also see productive coffee plants and learn about the complete coffee-growing process, from planting and flowering to harvesting and processing.
As this is a working farm, activities vary throughout the year. Depending on the season, visitors may observe flowering, fruit development, harvesting, pruning, irrigation management and other agricultural tasks.
This experience is ideal for nature lovers, gardeners, food enthusiasts and travellers looking to discover a lesser-known side of Andalusia.
A small selection of farm products may be available for purchase at the end of the tour, including locally roasted coffee and seasonal products, subject to availability.
Important information: This is a fully outdoor walking tour on a working farm. The route includes natural paths, uneven terrain and some uphill sections. Participants should be comfortable walking on uneven ground, including moderate inclines.
Temperatures can be high, particularly during summer. We recommend comfortable footwear, water, a hat and sun protection. While some shaded areas are available, most of the experience takes place outdoors.
Visitors arriving on foot should allow extra time for the journey.
Fruit and coffee tastings are not currently included in the tour.
Come and discover how coffee and tropical fruits are grown on Spain's Mediterranean coast.
