During a full-day tour of Thessaloniki, a stop at Moni Vlatadon (Vlatadon Monastery) is one of the most memorable moments. Tucked into the quiet Upper Town, the 14th-century Byzantine monastery sits on a hillside just inside the old city walls and is believed to mark the exact spot where Saint Paul preached to the Thessalonians in 51 AD. A simple stone inside the small church is traditionally said to be where the apostle stood. You arrive after a short drive from the city centre, and the reward is immediate: sweeping panoramic views over the rooftops, the Thermaic Gulf, and – on clear days – all the way to Mount Olympus. The main church, dedicated to the Transfiguration, is beautifully decorated with well-preserved frescoes, and the whole place feels calm and lived-in because it is still an active monastery belonging to the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Modest dress is required (shoulders and knees covered).

Enter the Saint Demetrius church , one of the oldest and most important byzantine churches in Thessaloniki, admire the frescos and go down at the catacombs to see a part of the city's history. On Tuesdays the crypt is closed and we can only visit the church

Right in the heart of the modern centre, at the junction of Olympou and Filippou streets, this large open-air archaeological site was once the bustling commercial, political and social hub of Roman Thessaloniki, with its main buildings constructed in the 2nd century AD.

A unique building of its kind, the sole circular Christian church in the world, with stunning mosaics and special history of a building which turned from a roman temple, to a christian church, to a mosque and back to a church. On Tuesdays the museum is closed so we get to see only the outside .

Marvel at the remains of the famous Galerius Arch through which passed Via Egnatia, the ancient 'highway' that connected Rome with Costantinople.

After taking a look at the statue of Phillip the 2nd we move to admire the eternal king of Macedonia, Alexander the Great on his proud horse Vuchefalas at the most photographed spot of Thessaloniki.

The father of Alexander the Great stands firm on pedastal accross the White Tower, as if we see how proud he is of his son and the unbelievable things he accomplished.
