Dresden is the Baroque city. This is the day for the landscape around it. Just across the border, the sandstone country of Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland hides deep canyons, rock towers and the largest natural arch in Europe. A local guide who grew up in these valleys leads the day, in a small group.

The day starts with hotel pickup in Dresden. First stop: the Bastei Bridge, suspended high above the Elbe River. Cross the bridge and take in wide views of cliffs and deep valleys — a favorite spot for photographers.

Next comes a forest hike to Pravčická Gate, the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe (open April–October). The trail takes about 45 minutes each way and includes some climbing. It is a real hike — rewarded with one of the most famous views in the country.

Lunch is a traditional Czech meal in a cozy, family-run restaurant. Vegetarian and vegan options are always available.

In the afternoon, walk through the labyrinth of sandstone towers at Tisa Rocks, a filming location of The Chronicles of Narnia. Narrow passages, hidden rock formations and an easy pace — the most playful walk of the day.

Snacks, bottled water and Wi-Fi are ready in the van. The group stays small, so the pace stays relaxed. The day ends back at your Dresden hotel in the evening.
